Rose Bowl Turkey Trot Goes Virtual for 2020

(Credit: Rose Bowl)Since the Rose Bowl can’t host its annual Turkey Trot this year due to the pandemic, organizers have decided to bring the event straight to neighborhoods everywhere by putting it online.For the past two years, the Rose Bowl has hosted its 5K around the iconic stadium. This time around, participants are urged to join in from their own neighborhoods.“Runners, trotters, skippers, and jumpers can continue the tradition from the comfort and safety of their favorite running path,” the Rose Bowl said in a written statement. Participants will be given a window to join in on the fun by racing between Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 6 a.m., and Friday, Nov. 27 at 8 p.m., the statement said.Tax-deductible entry fees from this year’s Turkey Trot will go to the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation’s America’s Stadium Needs America Campaign, organizers said.“Trot before you gobble and help preserve, protect and enhance the Rose Bowl Stadium,” the statement said.Participants can download the RaceJoy app at racejoy.net to track their progress and pace, submit their results, and even be cheered on by friends and family members as they follow along from home, according to the Rose Bowl.Participants will receive a “virtual goodie bag,” including a print-at-home runner bib and custom photo borders to capture the memory.
