The races will take place at Sunset Hill County Park, hosted by Valparaiso.The field will consist of all 10 MVC teams in the women’s race, and nine teams in the men’s race. The first race of the day will be the men’s 8-kilometer race which begins at 10:35 a.m. on Saturday. The women’s 5-kilometer race will begin at 11:35 a.m.The Drake men’s team has had a strong season, posting two of the top three fasted 8-kilometer times in the MVC in 2019. Both times were recorded in Drake’s first-place finish at the Bradley Pink Classic just two weeks ago.The Bulldogs were picked second in the men’s pre-championship poll, receiving three first-place votes and 67 points. Bradley was picked first in the poll with six first-place votes and 78 points.The women’s team has yet to run a 5-kilometer race this season but has competed in some 4-kilometer and 6-kilometer races so far this season. Junior Millie Bretl recorded a 14:17.23 4-kilometer time in Drake’s meet against Creighton in August, which was the fastest time in the MVC this season.Drake was picked eighth in the women’s pre-championship Poll with 31 points. Loyola was picked first with seven first-place votes and 97 points.In last year’s MVC Championship, the Drake men’s team finished third and the women’s team finished eighth.Following the conclusion of the event, both teams will prepare for the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 15 in Stillwater, Okla. Print Friendly Versionlast_img read more
