first_imgThe Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that had deputies ducking for cover from what they thought were gunshots fired in their direction. Two deputies responded to a call for a welfare check about 11 p.m. Monday near the 2600 block of Northeast 191st Circle in Ridgefield, northeast of the Clark County Fairgrounds. When they got there, they heard a male voice yelling, in the distance, “Get out of here,” and then heard what sounded like 10 gunshots, according to Sgt. Duncan Hoss. The deputies took cover and requested more law enforcement to respond. Deputies searched the area with help from the regional SWAT team and air support from the Portland Police Air Unit, but a suspect was not located and no usable evidence, including any casings, was found.“Something certainly happened. The gunfire did occur,” Sgt. Fred Neiman said. “The deputies perceived that the gunfire was toward their position so that’s very frightening and alarming and cause for concern for everyone.”last_img
