Eluru: Patriotic fervour prevailed everywhere as people participated in various programmes in connection with 73rd Independence Day on Thursday. Different political parties, government offices, educational institutions and other establishments celebrated Independence Day in a grand manner. At official programme arranged at Police Parade Grounds here, In-Charge Minister of district Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose participated as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said State government’s Navaratnalu programme would bring a change in lives of the poor. The village volunteer system started delivering services under Navaratnalu in rural areas from Independence Day. For development of state, rural development plays a crucial role, he added. Cultural programmes were presented by groups of students from different educational institutions attracted the attention of people.
